RoHS-Compliant Industrial Monitors and TouchscreensThe Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive restricts the use of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment sold in Europe effective July 1, 2006. This Directive will ban the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. The RoHS and WEEE directives contain exemptions applying to the equipment we sell, primarily when used in large scale industrial tools and when used for monitor and control instrumentation. A large portion of our customers use equipment in these applications, so exemption is appropriate. However, we recognize that some applications may require compliance and have met the requirements for the majority of our products. The following table lists RoHS compliance status for all major HIS part numbers. Those listed as compliant will meet RoHS standards between now and Sept. 1, 2006 by request only. On Sept. 1, 2006 and following, all compliant products will meet the RoHS Directive and no special request will be required.
All RoHS-compliant parts have less than or equal to the maximum concentration of 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials of lead, hex chrome, mercury, PBB, PBDE and 0.01% for cadmium, or qualify for an exemption to the above limits as defined in the Annex of the RoHS Directive. The above information is provided based on reasonable inquires of our suppliers and represents our current knowledge based on the information provided by them. Since most of our products are used in exempt applications and implementation varies from country to country, compliance to the WEEE Directive will be handled on a case by case basis. Please contact us if you have a need in this area.
